Removals to Paris

Paris is the city of style, romance and timeless architecture. It’s also a cosmopolitan place that’s constantly evolving and offers expats something new and exciting.

Cost of living in Paris

Paris is the most expensive part of France to live in with prices comparable to London and New York. You can expect to easily pay £1,000 a month for an apartment and £2,500 a month for a 4-bed family home with dedicated parking. While this isn’t here to put you off, it’s important to note that parking in particular can be an issue in the more densely packed central districts of the city. A number of schemes by which you can rent spaces for several hundred pounds a month are up and running, but some have the downside of leaving you several minutes away from your property.

How much is it to live in Paris, excluding rent?

The average spend by a 4-person family on groceries, utilities, travel, etc is £2,500 a month in Paris. This means that to live comfortably, a family of this size will typically need a net monthly income of £6,000. While this may sound high, bear in mind the number of high-paying professional jobs which are skewing this average. Government workers and financial professionals abound in Paris, which offers you a range of employment opportunities while also pushing up prices relative to the rest of the country.

Is Paris Safe?

Paris is known as a law and order city where public protests, while sometimes frequent, are well policed and largely peaceful. French culture involves a lot of belief in free speech and speaking truth to those in charge, but it also prides itself on community feel and inclusivity. This gives the city a constantly changing, cosmopolitan culture combined with a strong respect for institutions. The result is an eclectic city in which personal safety won’t be an issue.

Cost of transportation in Paris

The price of petrol in Paris will likely be slightly higher than in the rural south, due to nothing more than the higher population density. You can expect to pay approximately £40 per hour to hire a mini cab and get a bus pass for £100 per year. The city is well connected with trains all over the country as well as the Eurostar which heads into London right throughout the day.

Jobs in Paris

As well as the government and a large collection of major financial institutions, Paris is also known for its designers and fashion houses. Eateries also abound, which gives anyone looking to get a part-time job based around childcare plenty of options that are well worth consideration. As with any major city, healthcare and teaching are also common employment choices for many.
